Januzaj to snub Kosovo

The father of Manchester United striker Adnan Januzaj has confirmed his son will not be playing for Kosovo in their first full-international taking place next month.

FIFA have granted Kosovo permission to play against full member nations who recognise them as an independent state, but any matches that take place will not be considered a legitimate international fixture.

Januzaj was born in Brussels, but his family has Kosover-Albanian roots, meaning he does have the lineage to represent Kosovo.

"I was born there and I would like my son to play for the national team of my country, but the matter is delicate, because the Kosovo FA is not yet a member of FIFA," Abedin Januzaj told Kosovan TV station, Kohavision.

"Maybe one day Adnan will play for Kosovo, but for now, this will not happen. And we have a lot of time to think about everything," he added.
